Contact types explained
Every contact has a Type that describes your relationship with them. It helps you segment your CRM and filter your list. You can set or change a contact's type from the Quick Actions card on its detail page.
The four types
- Lead — a prospect you're working to win. Most new contacts start here.
- Customer — someone who has bought from you.
- Reseller — a partner who resells your product to their own customers.
- Partner — another kind of business relationship (integration, referral, alliance, etc.).
Using types
- Filter your Contacts list by type to focus on just leads or just customers. See Searching and filtering contacts.
- Segment your outreach — for example, treat reseller and partner relationships differently from direct leads.
Tip: Update a contact's type as the relationship evolves — for example, from Lead to Customer once they close.
